Male Breast (Gynacomastia) Reduction
Gynaecomastia is an increase in the amount of breast gland tissue or fat or both in boys or men, caused by an imbalance of the hormones: oestrogen and testosterone. Gynaecomastia can affect one or both breasts, sometimes unevenly.
Newborns, boys going through puberty and older men may develop gynecomastia as a result of normal changes in hormone levels, though other causes may also exist.
Men and boys with gynecomastia sometimes have pain in their breasts and may be a cause for embarrassment or ridicule.
Correction involves two components: Liposuction to remove the excess fat and surgical excision to remove the gland. These steps together ensure good shape of the chest and helps precent recurrences in the future. The scars are camouflaged to give a good cosmesis.
